All-New Captain America #6 Review by (May 3, 2015)
Review: Nicely action-filled issue wraps up the title’s first (if not only) arc and manages to kill Nomad for the third time in his brief career. Last issue’s opening flashback told us how many people believed that Sam Wilson had not earned his right to wear the uniform and the one this time, told us about Sam’s dream of starting a family. So, knowing that the baddies’ scheme involved sterilization, I guessed that Cap would sacrifice his sterility to save the world and becomes a dyed-in-the-wool hero. So such luck; I must have been seeing more psychological depth in the story than was intended. But it would have given Sam a tragic dimension beyond the usual dead parents. Oh well, we’ll see what comes along after the Crisis on Inf—er, Secret Wars.

All-New Captain America #6 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Flashback: Sam Wilson, fresh off his first week as the new Captain America, talks with his sister about her kids and she reminds him of his long-time dream to have a family of his own….

Now Cap is in flight, pursuing Baron Blood who is carrying a bomb which will release the mutant blood to sterilize the world’s population—except for the Hydra killers who have taken the antidote. The fight in the air is brutal as the combatants crash into a unoccupied office building. Blood hurls the hero away from him and soars into the stratosphere….

At Hydra’s Florida base, Nomad is battling Batroc so that he can stop Baron Zemo from detonating the bomb. Nomad maneuvers Batroc into leaping from the hangar port….

Cap reaches Blood in space and bashes him; Blood spits a mouthful of blood into Cap’s face which will sterilize him as well. In Florida, Nomad is beaten down by Zemo who turns to press the detonator; Nomad hurls Zemo’s sword, skewering the villain through the back. Nomad tells the critically wounded Zemo that he has no qualms about killing; Zemo agrees and an explosion destroys the building….

In space, Cap tears the bomb from Baron Blood and hurls it into the distance where it detonates far from Earth. With an unconscious Blood floating in the stratosphere, Cap drops into the ocean. As his life flashes before his eyes, Sam recalls his mother telling him that his father was willing to die to save others…. Cap is rescued by Misty Knight, shows him the captive Lucas and the recovered Redwing. Cap is also given the antidote to the mutant blood which she took from Viper….

Cap returns to SHIELD HQ where he learns that Nomad—Ian Rogers—is presumed dead. He assures Steve Rogers and Sharon Carter that their adopted son died a hero. Sam also gives great credit to Misty Knight…then Nick Fury Jr. tells him that Misty does not work for SHIELD….
