Synopsis

Avengers and X-Men: Axis #7 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3 stars

As Apocalypse’s gene bomb is counting down to detonation, Havok looks at the captive Wasp, his wife in another timeline, and asks Cyclops wistfully if she could be spared. The answer is no. Nightcrawler bamfs in to summon them to battle….

Outside, the new Avengers team made up of inverted villains is in battle with the all-new, all-evil X-Men. Inside the ship, Deadpool and his sidekick Spider-Man take on Apocalypse, with ‘Pool now a hippie spouting New Age jargon to get the villain to relax peacefully. The brawl spills out into the street, with Carnage of all people saving Spidey’s life….

In Latveria, Scarlet Witch is aiming toward wiping out her family including Magneto and Quicksilver, who are trying to protect the inverted Doctor Doom. She calls on the Lords of Chaos to curse those who are of her blood, critically injuring her brother. When Magneto stands unharmed, she realizes that he is not her real father; she then blasts him. Doom escapes via a portal as Wanda vows to destroy Latveria….The bad new Captain America meets with the superior Iron Man and the other inverted Avengers to form a temporary alliance to destroy Steve Rogers and the X-Men….

Back at the X-Men/Avengers battle, touch-feely Deadpool is trying to find Genesis inside the brutal and vicious Apocalypse. The giant mutant tears ‘Pool’s head off. Meanwhile the gene bomb is ticking…three seconds…two seconds…one….

Review / Commentaries

Avengers and X-Men: Axis #7 Review by (December 13, 2014)
Review: We start act three of the event without having had any clear climax at the end of act two: everything is still happening. It’s still a standard story with the good guys being bad and the bad guys being good, nothing particularly creative or interesting. I’m getting tired of this event, how ‘bout you?

Comments: Carnage says “X-Men—come out and play-ay!” parodying a line from the film THE WARRIORS; Jack O’ Lantern calls him on it. Deadpool sings “Get Together” the brotherhood classic by the ‘60s group the Youngbloods.

Avengers and X-Men: Axis #7 Review by (December 14, 2014)
When Scarlet Witch curses her blood relatives Magneto is unaffected. Wanda realises he isn't her father. The quest for the truth will begin in the new Uncanny Avengers title. This appearance ties in directly with AvW#15-16, although I don't know what the sequence of actions is. Tie-ins:- NOVA #24 Set after Axis#5. Nova was beaten by Kluh last issue, but returns for round 2 using brains rather than brawn, then retires to recover. AXIS: CARNAGE #3 Emil Gregg isn't dead, he's actually Sin-Eater. Ends with Carnage letting Gregg eat all *his* sins, defeating the bad guy by giving hom more than he can handle. Leaves open the possibility of Carnage continuing to be a hero after Axis ends. DEADPOOL #38 Zenpool continues fighting the evil X-Men to save his Korean mutant friends. Later he gets called to Axis#7. WOLVERINE & X-MEN #12 Somewhen in Axis#4-6. Showcases evil Storm and good Quentin Quire. AXIS: REVOLUTIONS #3 Evil Kitty Pryde robs a bank run by an anti-mutant bigot. Sandman sees good Absorbing Man being a hero and decides to try it himself but gets blamed for a prison break. INHUMAN #9 Evil Medusa takes a harder-edged attitude to the Inhumans' relationship with the human world. AMAZING X-MEN #14 Good Mystique tries to save evil Nightcrawler from himself. Not the same confrontation as in Axis#6. SUPERIOR IRON MAN #2 Continues from the Iron Man vs Daredevil scene in Axis#6. Ends with attempted bribery as Stark uses Extremis to give Murdock his sight back. ALL-NEW X-FACTOR #17 The story moves into Axis#3-6 as evil Longshot and Sunfire come for the nuclear football. At the end good Magneto comes to take Quicksilver to Latveria for Axis#6-7. AVENGERS WORLD #16 Continues the tie-in to Axis#6-7. Valeria's Avengers trap SW in Doom's machine, but it only manages to syphon off a small fraction of her power. Enough to let Doom bring back to life *one* person he has killed in the past, Cassie Lang, just in time for Ant-Man #1.
