Synopsis

Black Widow #5 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Tech Ed, revealed to be the power behind No Restraints Play, burns all the evidence while assuring his subscribers that a) their identities are still secret and b) the show will continue at some later time….

The Prince’s suite in the Sovereign Hotel has been destroyed by Ed’s missile. Black Widow and Tyger Tiger are not seriously injured but the Prince is dying from his wounds; Tyger promises him that she will continue his plans for a new Madripoor. Natasha realizes that Tech Ed must also eliminate the child victims to completely cover his tracks. She steals a scooter and races to the Princess Bar where she arrives just in time to stop a child from touching a booby-trapped game on Ed’s laptop. When Tyger arrives, Nat is finishing removing all of the explosives and she has found evidence of Ed’s crimes on his hard drive. The next step…

Tech Ed is on his yacht at sea, surrounded by hired guards who he doesn’t notice are disappearing one by one. Then he sees on his laptop that all of his funds are gone and he goes on deck to confront the Black Widow. Holding her at gunpoint he first threatens to throw the hard drive overboard, then claims to have been abused as a child and that he was doing this to trap and expose the real bad guys. She’s not buying it so he feints like he is going to shoot himself but suddenly fires at her. He misses and she fires back with her sting and doesn’t….

Returning to the bar, Nat hands Ed’s encrypted currency over to Tyger to spend on the new Madripoor. Downstairs, she finds all of the rescued children exercising and learning to fight to be like their hero. She presents the little girl who lost her hands with a set of prostheses from Stark. Telling Tyger that her work isn’t done, Nat moves on...

…and soon meets with Steve Rogers, advising him not to live in the past, to forgive himself, and promises she will always be there when she needs him. The last we see of her, she is screaming on a rooftop, then falls to her knees and smiles….
