1926: Sarah Rogers is a valued member
of the helpful Hydra community organization as they support the civic
good. Local leader Elisa Sinclair praises Sarah and shows she is
aware that Sarah''s husband is still abusing her....
Captain America removes his costume and
paints the Hydra insignia on his chest as he reports to a holographic
Red Skull. Steve recounts the adventure in Bagalia on the previous
day (issue #1): Cap commended Dr Eric Solveig for his service and
made sure Baron Zemo was unconscious—then he abandoned the aircraft
as it crashed into a building, presumably killing Solveig and Zemo.
Steve questions letting Solveig die but the Skull explains that he
had served his purpose.
We then see what happened as Cap was
away. Sharon Carter ordered the SHIELD ship to land to pick up Free
Spirit and the critically injured Jack Flag before the nation''s
crooks spot them. Too late, Taskmaster arrives to reveal that he is
the sheriff and he pierces Sharon''s hand with his sword. Drawing his
gun he aims to kill but Cap arrives and beats the living crap out of
him. As the country''s mobs surround them, the good guys have to fight
their way back to the ship and they are not going to make it. Rick
Jones broadcasts an announcement that he has hacked into Bagalia''s
casinos and is planning to wipe the accounts. All of the baddies rush
off to try to save their bank accounts. Then it is discovered that
Jack Flag is still alive....
The Red Skull is outraged to hear this
from Cap, even moreso when Cap regrets Jack''s fate. The Skull also
takes him to task for showing mercy to Robbie Dean Tomlin, the Hydra
bomber (also in issue #1). The Skull gloats as his enemies are
falling into the trap Hydra has set, and reveals that Jack Flag has
to die before the plan is set into motion. Steve flashes back to his youth, when
Elisa Sinclair had a couple of thugs beat a man and toss him off a
bridge. He steels himself for what is to come next for him and the
still-living Eric Solveig....
