The Red Skull relates the latest
developments with Captain America, Hydra, and the Cosmic Cube:
Years earlier the Cosmic Cube had been
shattered in a fight between Cap and his archenemy. The broken pieces
were collected in a SHIELD lab. There, the fragments molded
themselves into the form of a little girl calling herself Kobik and
Dr. Eric Solveig was put in charge of her. Kobik, knowing she had
once belonged to the Red Skull materializes in his home and fixes
Sin's disfigured face. Once the Skull recognized what he had on his
hands, he raised her to believe that he and Hydra are the good guys
and she secretly transformed Solveig into a faithful Hydra member.
The Red Skull had Solveig propose the idea of the Pleasant Hill
prison to Maria Hill who loved the idea and brought it to fruition.
All of the events of the mini-event SHOWDOWN were orchestrated by the
Skull who was on hand disguised as the priest Father Patrick. And
following the plan, Kobik gave Steve Rogers back his youth and powers
to become Captain America again...and at the same time made him a
devoted follower of Hydra....
