With all life on Earth held hostage in suspended animation, the twelve chosen pawns disappear from the orbiting area, and the greatest competition of all-time begins. Daredevil, Darkstar, and Talisman go up against the Invisible Girl, Iron Fist, and Sun Fire in the “Frozen North! Elsewhere the team of Arabian Knight, Iron Man, and Sabra meet the team of Captain Britain, Defensor, and the Savage She-Hulk in “Ghost Town Showdown!
Synopsis by
Peter SilvestroRound One begins. Six heroes find themselves in the Arctic:
Daredevil,
Talisman and
Darkstar for the
Grandmaster and
Invisible Girl,
Sunfire and
Iron Fist for the
Unknown. Sunfire and Darkstar battle in the skies, the mystical Talisman battles Invisible Girl by sending her into dream-time, and DD and Iron Fist slug it out in a martial arts battle. As the warriors converge on the quarter of the Golden Globe, Invisible Girl is nearest but Daredevil manages to snag it with a cable from his billy club. Round One goes to the Grandmaster.
Round Two takes place in a western ghost town. For the Unknown, Iron Man, Sabra, Arabian Knight; for the Grandmaster: She-Hulk, Captain Britain, Defensor. The teams must deal with internal conflict this time: Sabra and Arabian Knight are divided by their countries’ enmity while She-Hulk is offended by Defensor’s Latin machismo. She-Hulk battles Sabra whose weaponry takes her by surprise; Iron Man is startled by Defensor’s defensive capabilities and Captain Britain mixes it up with Arabian Knight. Soon, only Iron Man and She-Hulk are left standing; the two battle but Iron Man’s repulsor rays prove too much for her. While Shell-Head is tending to her wounds, Arabian Knight claims the prize. Round Two goes to the Unknown.
