Synopsis

Daredevil (1964 series) #206 synopsis by reviewer Anthony Silvestro
Rating: 3 stars

An injured Becky Blake crawls her way to her phone to call Matt Murdock. She tells Matt she was mugged right outside her apartment and the mugger stole the fur coat she bought her mother for Christmas. Matt changes to Daredevil and makes his way over to Becky’s apartment building. There, he finds wet footprints and follows them to the roof of the building. He follows the impressions to the fire escape where he overhears the mugger talking on the phone about his score in the apartment below. Daredevil confronts the man and warns him not to try and use the knife Daredevil can tell he has. The mugger tries anyway, giving Daredevil the excuse to take the guy apart!

Meanwhile, a news report details the big story of the recent arrival of the rest of the Kinjorge Tribe, sitting down to their first ever civilized Christmas Dinner! It doesn’t remain civilized for long, as the Kinjorge pounce on the servers and head into the kitchens to attack the chefs and scarf the food down as slovenly as possible! Foggy notes the only one who can stop them is their leader, Micah Synn, who’s currently engaged in a meeting upstairs with a mysterious figure! Just then, Debbie arrives with a gift for Micah, a statue of his god Mow that she had commissioned. She doesn’t want him to get the wrong idea, but he expresses excitement over the statue before grabbing Debbie to forcefully kiss her once again! Micah is stopped by the man he was meeting with, who turns out to be the Kingpin! Though Fisk is interested in adding Micah to his ranks, he clarifies that he has a rule never to lay hands on another man’s wife! A shaken Debbie asks Foggy if they can leave, and they head out for a Christmas party being held at Matt’s place. However, Micah and some of his tribe secretly follow them in a car provided to him by Fisk…

At Matt’s apartment, his new temporary roommate Glorianna O’Breen gives him a Christmas present, a statue of The Kiss by Auguste Rodin. Shortly after, Foggy, Debbie, and Becky arrive so that the party can begin. Just then, Micah and his friends crash the party! Micah attacks Matt and Foggy and grabs Debbie in order to force her to come with him! Micah’s friends laugh and mess around with Becky’s wheelchair, and even pull a knife on Glori! Matt pretends to flail around helplessly in order to get them to push him into the large Christmas tree in the corner. This ends up shutting out all the lights, allowing Matt to change to Daredevil and turn the tides. He deals with the others before being tackled outside by Micah. Micah has Daredevil at his mercy, when the Kingpin arrives and helps Daredevil take down Micah, having warned him to stay away from Debbie. Kingpin says to consider his assistance a gift and wishes Daredevil a Merry Christmas. Debbie worriedly checks on Micah while Daredevil notes that it stopped snowing, though feeling that this was no true happy ending…

Daredevil (1964 series) #206 Review by (November 5, 2025)

Review: Daredevil receives an unorthodox Christmas gift as he must contend with Micah Synn yet again. This is now the third time in only a handful of issues that Daredevil has been forced to beat up Micah Synn. He just keeps showing up, never seeming to face any kind of repercussions from issue to issue! Unfortunately, this trend will continue. His whole deal is just as frustrating as ever, just being brutish and obnoxious. And the rest of his tribe is here all of a sudden to act just as bad! I do like that the Kingpin shows some decency in warning Micah not to pursue Foggy’s wife Debbie. It makes sense too, given how devoted he is to his own wife, that Fisk would honor the sanctity of marriage. This even leads him to helping Daredevil take down Micah this time, his help being the aforementioned unorthodox Christmas gift for Daredevil. Debbie at least seems apprehensive about everything though the end implies she’s beginning to reciprocate and it will get worse. The best thing about the issue is David Mazzuchelli’s art. I really enjoy his art, though it will look even better once he’s inking himself. Not rated quite as low as the previous Micah issues solely due to the art and the nice Kingpin twist.

Comments: First issue drawn by David Mazzuchelli, who will go on to become the regular artist for quite a while. The Kinjorge Tribe is suddenly spelled Kingorge from this issue on.
