Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Defenders, The #12 Synopsis by Andrew Runge
While traveling through a seemingly deserted forest, the Hulk is suddenly attacked by trees, stones, and other foliage. This attack is directed by Xemnu the Titan, who proceeds to knock the Hulk out with a mental blast. Meanwhile, back at his Sanctum Sanctorum, Doctor Strange presents Valkyrie with a new sword, Dragonfang, carved from the tusk of a dead Dragon, to replace the Ebony Blade which she returned to its original owner, the Black Knight. Sensing the Hulk is in trouble, Dr.Strange and Valkyrie go to his aid. They are captured by local town folk under the mind control of Xemnu the Titan. Dr. Strange mentally frees the Hulk who then breaks free of his physical bonds. Xemnu attempts to flee in his spaceship which was designed to return to his planet full of Earthling slaves. However, the Hulk dispatched the spaceship with a mighty toss apparently killing Xemnu and releasing Dr. Strange and Valkyrie from their bonds. This ending sets up a battle royal to come with the Squadron Sinister in the next issue.
