Once More, The End Of The World...

Synopsis

Defenders #1 synopsis by Julio Molina-Muscara
Rating: 5 stars

Patsy Walker, a.k.a. Hellcat feels sorry for a homeless guy barely living on the streets. She aids him to a restaurant, but the man was Yandroth, a deadly enemy of the Defenders! Empowered after dining, he knocks Hellcat out, kidnaps her and locks her at a lighthouse in Maine. Later, using the power of Gaea, who is his captive, Yandroth casts a powerful spell that summons miscellaneous villains to attack the world. They include Gorgilla, Borers, and Gargoyles. The Avengers, the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man respond to this threat. But the villains are too many to handle.

Bruce Banner, who was in Washington D.C., turns into the Hulk when he spots the invasion of Toad Men ships. He destroys some flying vessels, scaring some of these ugly aliens. Elsewhere, the Silver Surfer, who was with Alicia Masters, fights Quasimodo. Doctor Strange confronts the Night-Crawler. And the Sub-Mariner holds an attack to Atlantis by stone monsters.

In Maine, Hellcat breaks free and contacts Kyle Richmond, alias Nighthawk, desperately asking for aid. Nighthawk remembers the Defenders and asks Papa Hagg, his mystic advisor, to cast a spell to bring them together. Thus, Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Sub-Mariner, and the Silver Surfer are back in the game, appearing next to Hellcat.

Yandroth faces them and calls in the Ravagers of Creation, a quartet of mighty monsters, each representing an element who could destroy the planet, or so Yandroth says. They prove too powerful to attack on a one-to-one basis. So Strange asks the Defenders to attack the same monster at once. And they confront the rocky monster.

The remaining Ravagers gather to connect mystically and start the world’s end. But since the fourth monster was missing, their mystic attempt failed, causing them to vanish unexpectedly. A few seconds later, the rocky monster disappears as well. This affected Yandroth too, who dies cursing the Defenders.

His death let Gaea break free. As Hulk, Namor, and the cosmic voyager leave, Strange and Hellcat wonder about the magnitude of Yandroth’s curse.

Special guests: Valkyrie, Wong, Namorita. In flashbacks: Omegatron.
