Story 1:- (Civil War II)
Black Panther and Captain Marvel are on the roof of the Triskelion HQ of the Ultimates waiting for someone. Not for War Machine who just drops in to continue the relaxed relationship he and Carol Danvers have. T'Challa turns away as Carol and Jim Rhodes kiss.
Then the guests teleport in courtesy of the dog Lockjaw - Inhumans Medusa, Crystal and Ulysses. Everyone already knows Ulysses is the new Inhuman who can predict the future. They're here to test his ability and see if he can control it. At the moment he just gets unpredictable flashes. (And he doesn't just see the future, he seems to temporarily go there.)
He has 1 of those moments right now. And tells them Thanos is coming. (Presumably he tells them a lot more than that because they're able to plan for the encounter.)
3 hours later Project PEGASUS has been evacuated of personnel (replaced by LMDs) and items of interest. A conversation suggests that various people are waiting somehow cloaked.
Thanos arrives, unusually carrying some large guns. The waiters appear. As well as Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Crystal and Medusa we see more Ultimates (Blue Marvel, Ms America and Spectrum) and more A-Force (Dazzler and She-Hulk) plus Human Torch (official liaison between humans and Inhumans).
Thanos is after a Cosmic Cube that was in PEGASUS (before it was removed as an item of interest). He's totally surprised to meet this level of opposition.
Our side hit him with everything they've got. And then they add War Machine. Thanos of course fights back. He throws Medusa at Rhodey, causing 1 of WM's (I think) missiles to hit She-Hulk. James tries to reach her but Thanos fires a close-range blast through his body. Angry Carol leads a renewed assault which downs the Titan.
But James Rhodes may be dead, and She-Hulk isn't far off.
To be continued in Civil War II #1.
Story 2:- (ANAD Avengers) Buzzed
A costumed female flies through strange technological architecture, fighting off pursuing energy globes with wrist-blasters. She plants globes of her own. Her inner monologue suggests she's Russian, that she's escaped from somewhere, and that she's miniaturised.
Months ago she came to the house of Henry Pym, but learned from Internet news that he'd just been killed stopping Ultron. The teen named Nadia shrank to slip into the house and her idol Pym's lab. She found stuff to fashion into a costume as the Wasp.
Now she intends to introduce herself to each of the Avengers Pym used to work with, starting with the Vision. We see her exiting his eye. She detonates the globes she planted, and energy erupts from the synthezoid's eyes and hands.
To be continued in ANADA#9.
