Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Hulk and Thing: Hard Knocks #3 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Thing shows Hulk some photos of himself (Ben) standing over a defeated Hulk. Hulk calls them fakes as he doesn’t believe Thing had ever beaten him. Hulk then reminds him of their first meeting, suddenly running into one another and punching him out, then beating Human Torch and Mr. Fantastic, then taking on Ben for an extended bout that he (Hulk) won. But Thing corrects him—at that point a ray, fired from underground by the Wrecker, hit Hulk at the back of his neck, knocking him out as witnessed by Invisible Girl. Then a huge robot run by Karl Kort, the Wrecker, came up from below and fought Thing who clobbered it. Ben then asks where Hulk was in all of this and gets Hulk to admit he had been weakened by Kort’s ray. This leads to the two fighting briefly and Ben resuming his story with the Fantastic Four capturing the Wrecker and turning him over to General Thunderbolt Ross. But Ben could not get Doctor Doom’s taunt out of his head so to deny he was a monster, he hunted down a real monster, the Hulk, in the desert and challenged him to a fight….
