Synopsis

Hunt For Wolverine: The Adamantiun Agenda #2 synopsis by Rob Johnson
Rating: 4 stars
This issue is divided into continuations of last issue's main story and the several-year-old flashback.

In the flashback some of the post-Dark Reign (New) Avengers had gathered to deal with a big bomb. The only safe way to handle it was for Wolverine to make it go off in a controlled way which caused a small amount of damage at the expense of blowing himself up.

Now Iron Man, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Spider-Man search for Logan in the rubble. Iron Man finds him. He appears to be dead but of course pops back to damaged life and reflexively snikt's his adamantium claws through Shellhead's helmet. Luckily Tony Stark drives up in his sports car - he was remote-controlling the armour.

Logan gets Stark to promise him something when he *does* die. He doesn't want Tony or *anyone* using his body as a 'science project'. And in return he'll do something for Stark (presumably continued next ish).

Back to the present where Wolverine *did* die and his body was buried in a secret place. But later the body vanished and the 4 Avengers heard of someone's super-DNA offered for sale on the Dark Web. Fearing it was Logan's they came to the secret auction in a mid-ocean submarine. But then they discovered the DNA for sale belongs to Jessica and Luke's child Danielle.

The criminals in the auction room are disappointed because they were expecting something better. They are wearing non-usual masks as disguises (although the body of 1 of them betrays that he's the Griffin). Masked Tony Stark is representing our group, the rest of whom are following the action via communicators. He puts in a lone bid just to get the DNA for the parents.

Then he suddenly bids a lot of money for the next item - a big piece of the Z1, a very early programmable computer supposedly destroyed in the bombing of Berlin in 1943. He and Spider-Man enthuse over it.

A masked female lets Stark know she knows who he is and then slips away. Tony is informed that the deal(s) will be completed in the group's private room. He rejoins Jessica, Luke and Spidey. The DNA-seller, ironically wearing an Iron Man facemask, brings the goods. Stark asks if he's got anything better - like Wolverine's DNA. Surprisingly the seller says he does, and asks 6 million dollars for it.

But the deal is interrupted by the sudden appearance of Mister Sinister who claims the seller stole it from *him*. Sinister prepares a hand-blast, Spider-Man's web-shot pulls his hand wide and the blast tears a hole in the side of the sub. Sinister, Stark and 'Iron Man' get washed away leaving Cage, Jones and Spidey (who's swapped his party mask for the real thing) to plug the hole. Which Jessica does with her husband's invulnerable body. Spider-Man webs him in place and he and Jess go to help Tony.

In the engine room Sinister is trying to kill the seller when the real Iron Man surfaces and stops him. The mystery woman arrives and unmasks, and then chops off 1 of Sinister's hands. It's the other Wolverine, Laura Kinney.

Hunt For Wolverine: The Adamantiun Agenda #2 Review by (July 13, 2018)
This time Mark Paniccia takes 1st editor fiddle over Jordan White.

For a change it's *not* a misleading cover, just sneaky because Iron Man's helmet didn't have Tony Stark's head in it.

The other Wolverine is of course X-23, the young female clone generated by the Weapon X project from Wolverine's X-chromosome. After several adventures she joined the Xavier school as a student. After more adventures she graduated to X-Force. Many more adventures later Logan died, and Laura joined the Wolverines group for their own series. Then the multiverse ended in Secret Wars III. In the new universe she became the new Wolverine in *her* own All-New Wolverine series. Post-Secret Empire she switched to the new X-Men: Red team.

Long-term X-foe Mr Sinister has long been studying mutant DNA. He was heavily involved in the Wolverines series above. Post-SWIII he got interested in Inhuman DNA as well in Extraordinary X-Men, and lately he's been bedevilling the Secret Warriors team of Inhumans.
