Incredible Hulk (2023 series) #28

Hulk dreams he is sitting on the deck of a sunken ship, watching the sea life swim around him. He then awakens in the real world, seeing a message written in the mud by Bruce Banner, locked away in Hulk’s mind: “Protect Doctor Voodoo.” Hulk leaps away….

He dreams he is climbing a massive ice-covered mountain when Eldest taunts him and strikes him with a bolt of lightning and he falls…

…to land in New Orleans. Tourists snap photos of him and the ghost of Inspector Francis Bergeron from Pinkerton deputizes him to help investigate a disturbance in the French Quarter. They enter the ruins of Wiltshire House, until recently the site of Strange Academy. They discover that someone has been constructing artificial monsters there. One of these suddenly comes to life and attacks Hulk from behind, sending them crashing through the floor to the level below. Hulk destroys it and the timid Bergeron tries to arrest it. The dying monster informs them that Eldest knew Hulk was coming and warns him that this time they will find no help from Doctor Voodoo. Daniel Drumm appears and Bergeron tries to interrogate him but he sends the detective into the peace of the afterlife. Drumm reveals that the last time Hulk was here, Doctor Voodoo placed a spell of protection on Bruce Banner. But now Hulk faces Daniel who has cast his lot with the Eldest, who blasts him. Hulk sees giant spider eggs overhead and one hatches before his eyes, webs him up and hurls him into a stark desolate plain. He is met by Betty who welcomes him home to the place of monsters where gamma was born. She adds that the only way to save Voodoo, her, or himself, is by killing the Mother of Horrors.  A strange sound appears in the air and she leads him across the landscape, promising to tell him everything….
