Infinity War #2 Review by (February 15, 2010)
“Professor” Hulk is very irritable and impatient in this issue.

Comments on tie-ins by Rob Johnson:-

Fantastic Four #367 began in our #1 and now more of it is entangled with this issue.

1st it mirrors the start of this issue as Invisible Woman and Thing greet Human Torch at FF HQ, check that he's the real deal and then explain what they think is going on.

The beginning of Silver Sable & The Wild Pack #4 overlaps Dr Doom's bit of this issue as Doom ignores a meeting arranged with Silver to go off with Kang, and she winds up meeting his Doppelganger instead.

Doom and Kang arrive at Monster Island as Galactus, Dr Strange, Nova and Silver Surfer also do in between DrS, Sorcerer Supreme #43 and SS#68, all there to investigate a strange energy on the Island. Galactus and co leave to track the energy to its source, and Doom and Kang follow them. (But there's no sign of D&K in the 3 issues which follow.)
The last panel of DRSSS#43 follows here as Galactus and gang follow the energy trail to another dimension.

Galactus & co then go off in 3 issues of their own before their next app in next issue.
In SS#68-69 they are attacked between dimensions by Khoon who wants Galactus' ship to get home in. He makes the mistake of revealing that he's made a map of interdimensional space in his memory, so Big G incorporates him in his navigational system.
In DRSSS#44 the ship is attacked by the Crimson Bands Of Cyttorak which take DrS and Nova to Cyttorak's dimension. Strange calls on Juggernaut to get them out.

The last chunk of FF#367 is then entangled with the last section of IW#2 containing the meeting of heroes convened by Mr Fantastic. Wolverine and Daredevil expose MrF and Iron Man as Doppelgangers. Confused fighting ensues. And the MrF-Dop sets of the gamma bomb.

The 1st half of Marc Spector, Moon Knight #41 and the 1st bit of Wonder Man #13 are also involved with that scene. Wonder Man's current anger issues exacerbate the fighting. Moon Knight tries to battle his way through the melee to unsuccessfully stop MrF from pressing the button.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Infinity War #2 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
The Magus gloats that all is going according to his elaborate scheme. The Earth heroes assemble, and Reed Richards briefs them on the existence of doppelgangers trying to defeat and replace each one of them. Meanwhile, Galactus has Dr. Strange and the Silver Surfer to aid him in trying to locate the source of the energy emissions; Doctor Doom and Kang the Conqueror, who are plotting to betray one another when they have reached their goal, put a trace beam on Galactus’ ship so they can let the cosmic being do all the hard work. Thanos persuades Adam Warlock that the Magus is still alive and poses a great threat to the universe. Warlock reluctantly agrees and Thanos and the Infinity Watch (Gamora, Pip the Troll, Moondragon, Drax the Destroyer) teleport to Mistress Death’s palace to consult the Infinity Well for further information. The Well describes how Magus was created as a dark counterpart to Warlock and erased from existence, summarizes the battle over the Infinity Gauntlet, explains how the Magus was reborn when Warlock expelled good and evil from himself, and reveals how Magus acquired a mysterious power source, established a fortress in space and created an army of doppelgangers. Back on Earth, Wolverine arrives at the heroes’ summit and accuses Reed and Iron man of being impostors. A massive battle breaks out and the Reed impostor unveils, then detonates, a gamma bomb.

Also in this issue: Hulk, Thing, Human Torch, Captain America, Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Daredevil, Avengers, X-Men, X-Factor, New Warriors, Alpha Flight, Nova. Cameo by the Mole Man.
