Synopsis

Marvel Universe (1998 series) #3 synopsis by reviewer Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

The Hydra agent who captured the courier carrying the valuable plutonium takes the sub back to rendezvous with the Dragon of Death. Baron Strucker gloats over his imminent possession of an atomic bomb which will allow him to conquer the world. Then it is discovered that the "plutonium" is really low-grade radium. The courier is revealed to be Bob "Whizzer" Frank in disguise; he zips to the communications room and sends out a signal. The Invaders, waiting nearby, locate the giant craft and crash Namor’s flagship into the dragon’s mouth, putting a large hole in the side so that it cannot submerge. They then battle their way through the ship, taking out Hydra goons left and right. Namor rescues Bob while Captain America searches for Strucker. But the villain is already gone; he ordered the ship scuttled and departed in a small craft. The heroes escape just as the Dragon explodes. A nearby American Navy ship picks up the survivors among the crew. And just when he thinks he’s gotten away, Strucker’s escape craft is seized and crushed by a giant squid.

Marvel Universe (1998 series) #3 Review by (January 23, 2014)
Review: A standard Invaders tale with a time travel twist is enlivened by the late 90s Marvel style: big drawings filling the marginless pages, the deeper and richer computer-aided coloring made me feel more immersed in the story. Plus some nice guest shots: the Whizzer! Doctor Doom! The Dragon of Death! Make this a pretty cool comic.

Comments: Part three of three.
