Monica’s
husband, Jericho Drumm, invites the Avengers (Captain America, She-Hulk, Black
Knight, Thor and Dr. Druid) and the Beyonder into the house and serves snacks.
Monica wonders if she has somehow fallen into a parallel universe, recalling
that the Beyonder has done something like this before (the original SECRET
WARS). Then she receives a phone call from her supposedly dead mother calling
to check on her; Monica asks about her father and cousin Caleb, confusing Drumm
who claims her parents are dead and she doesn’t have a Cousin Caleb. She
teleports to her parents’ house where she finds them at the kitchen table. But
when Cousin Caleb enters, he is a child. So Monica teleports back to the party,
only to find the house long unoccupied. So she decides to check up on the Stone
of Hala…
…teleporting
to the Sanctum Sanctorum where she is greeted by Wong. But something is wrong
here too. There is no Doctor Strange, Wong is the Sorcerer Supreme. He shows
her the Stone of Hala, encased in a glass box; when he mentions traces of a
remote alien galaxy, she examines it, thanks him, and departs. Going beyond the
visible light spectrum, she discovers a spacecraft; entering she finds a single
being caring for a multitude of sick and dying. Monica introduces herself and
the other person gives his name as Tahem and his people the Charos. They are a
travelling people, catalogers of systems across the galaxies but now they have
all been felled by a mysterious ailment, leaving him alone. She mentions the
Stone of Hala and Tahem grows all teary-eyed, remembering Posa their great
Relic Healer. He explains that they have no homeland, bonding to one another
rather than to a place. Monica examines Posa and discovers by x-ray a blockage
in her chest; applying some low-level radiation (accompanied by prayer from both
Monica and Tahem), she heals the growth and Posa recovers. So Monica goes
through the ranks, healing everyone. Posa and Tahem explain that the malady was
a sign that the universe itself was in danger; perhaps their knowledge, the
Stone, and Monica’s power can save reality. She makes her farewell and flashes
back to Earth but reaches yet another alternate universe. Instead of the
Sanctum Sanctorum is Ravencroft Institute; she is met by Karla (Moonstone) Sofen
and Yesenia (Hinge) Rosario. She mentions moving between parallel universes—but
they tell her that is not the case, she has broken the universe….
