Namor: the First Mutant Annual #1 Review by (August 2, 2013)
Review, Part Three: The X-Men and Captain America (even the retired one) make for an odd team-up and James Asmus delivers a comic epic full of fast paced action and constant comic bickering among the heroes. It takes a while for the comedy to settle in—in part one it seemed like all the characters genuinely hate each other—but Steve Rogers arrives in part two to bring out the best (sort of ) in them. The art is wildly uneven, resulting from the decision to have the three installments drawn by different artists with widely varying styles. This issue features Max Fiumara whose frantic art gives everyone long necks and thin angular bodies, exaggerating every feature; it would better suit a story far darker than this.

Namor: the First Mutant Annual #1 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Continued from STEVE ROGERS SUPER-SOLDIER ANNUAL #1.

Trapped in the Negative Zone, Namor, driven mad by lack of water, attacks his friends then turns on their captor Blastaar; in the brawl the portal back to Earth is destroyed. While Steve Rogers makes peace between the eternally bickering Cyclops and Hope Summers, Dr Nemesis, who has forced alien scientists to create a portable portal for him, leads the giant monster he fought in part one there and sics it on Blastaar. The three heroes then battle the berserk Namor while Nemesis opens the portal and sends them back home, dropping Namor into the ocean just in time to stop him from killing Hope. Back at Utopia, everyone makes up, while in the Negative Zone, Blastaar is plotting revenge against all of Earth….
