Rating:
Kristoff Vernard, adopted son of Victor Von Doom, brought back 6 'heroes' from what he thinks is a future where Dr Doom's reign over the world is still successful and dubbed them the Superior Avengers. However they are actually 'villains' who killed the Sorcerer Supreme Doom, but that act allowed malevolent beings from other dimensions in to ravage the Earth. They are really here now to gather as much magic as they can to go back to save their future.
In Latveria's capital Doomstadt Kristoff is sleeping with Killmonger of the SA, but she still hasn't told him (or us) her real name. They're keeping their relationship secret from his father and her team. Now she's getting dressed and preparing to leave him. But she has a flashback(forward) to 116 years in the future ...
... as she and 3 other refugees try to reach the safe haven of the last free state Wakanda protected by it's force dome. But the dome is surrounded by patrolling Doom Sentinels. 1 of the others carries the head of a Doombot whose transponder should keep them safe as they cross the 'killing field', but they don't know if Wakanda will let them in. They head across, keeping quiet so as to not betray their presence with a sound. But the Doombot's head announces that it's nearly out of power, and a Sentinel blasts them. 'Killmonger' is unscathed but only 1 other survives but with fatal injuries. She has to leave him and reaches a door where she demands refuge.
Vernard asks her to describe her future, saying all he knows is that Doom's rule prospers. She replies "That is not true" but continues that he knows more than that - that to learn more would interfere with that future. Then she gets a holocall from the female Dr Octopus to say that the team are needed to recapture Graviton who was 1 of the escapees from the Raft (in One World Under Doom #3). Police spotted him in Detroit and he's reacted violently.
The Superior Avengers (including Abomination, Ghost, Malekith and Onslaught) fly there by Quinjet but the current Avengers (Captain America (Sam Wilson), Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Storm and Vision) get there as well. The double-teaming strokes Franklin Hall's ego until the 2 teams ignore him to argue and he exerts his control of gravity to hurl them all away.
Killmonger tells Onslaught to shut down the foe's brain but his teammate is more interested in confronting Scarlet Witch. Wanda Maximoff is disturbed by this villain's Magneto-like costume (not to mention the skull inside the helmet) and wants to know who he is. He says she hasn't met him yet but he is the tragic fate of mutantkind and it's the fault of her family. (She's another adoptee, this time of Magneto.) She angrily tears him apart with her magic. The energy of the blast overcharges Doc Ock's battery bank and she comments to herself that Onslaught was right (last issue) when he said that SW's magic energy would be all they need for their purpose.
CapA dodges Ock's arms but flies into Abomination, a green armoured guy with a shield (which brings back unpleasant memories of the Secret Empire event). The shield-slingers slug it out and the villain welcomes blows to his face because it might give him scars like Dr Doom. Up above Storm generates lightning to try and stop the fighting. A blast hits Malekith who detects a hint of Asgard in her, which excites the All-Black and Undrjarn in his arms. Meanwhile Iron Man is trying to restrain Graviton and asking for help. CapM slugs Ock (who was possibly trying to drain SW's energy) and then flies to his aid. But she's brought down by Killmonger, who has another flashback to the future ...
... where she finds that Wakanda is a ruin within the dome. She reckon that Doom left it like this as a lure that will shatter what remains of hope. She doesn't know what happened to Black Panther but she finds his torn mask on the throne. And it is that stitched-back-together mask that she wears as Killmonger ...
... and that spurs her on. But still she's no match for a blast from Carol Danvers' hand. However CapM finds that KM has drawn blood from her superstrong skin, and her adversary explains that her dagger blade is made of adamantium. CM decides to continue the fight and calls for anyone else to help Iron Man. Vision answers but on the way he flies past Abomination fighting CapA and warns his ally that there's something odd about the foe. Ghost tries to stop him but he fires solar blasts from his eyes at her. Which unexpectedly burn a hole right through her.
