It’s the Mandarin versus the real Iron Man in the dungeons of the Asian villain’s stronghold in China. Everything the Mandarin dishes out—impact blasts, karate, freezing rays--Iron Man can take, thanks to his new upgraded armor. But the hero is taken by surprise and trapped between two steel walls that slowly move together—only the exertion of all of Iron Man’s strength is able to force them off their tracks, allowing the hero to escape. He then removes his metal gauntlets and takes on his archenemy in hand-to-hand combat. After withstanding the most powerful karate blows the Mandarin can muster, Iron Man punches out the villain with a devastating haymaker. Heading further into the dungeons, the Golden Avenger comes upon Mandarin’s henchmen plotting to use a radio beam to throw a Red Army missile (donated by the Mandarin) off course so that it hits an American base, plunging East and West into war. Iron Man overcomes the baddies, frees Happy Hogan and sends him jetting off to Okinawa, and causes the Mandarin’s missile to head back to the castle, where it explodes. Is the Mandarin dead? Tony Stark hopes so!

At the Yashonka Arms Research Center inside Communist Asia, Captain America suddenly appears, defeating guards and workers, in search of Agent 60. He is suddenly attacked by a soldier in an oversized armor suit, which Cap defeats by hurling a thermal bomb. He makes his way to the Officers’ Section, where he finds Colonel Kuro Chin, who is secretly SHIELD Agent 60. Chin had infiltrated the facility to sabotage the top-secret Z-Ray but has been unable to get near it. Cap realizes that Chin is about to crack under the stress of the situation and decides to go it alone. Cap eludes guards armed with Beeper Dogs (electronic bloodhounds) and solar guns. In the struggle Col. Chin is killed. Cap manages to hijack an air car and, dodging gas and missiles, bombs the Z-Ray and heads for home…only to be told that his favorite agent will not be there for him.
