Kang is still inside the kingdom with the Avengers, but he teleports himself away. Captain America rallies the kingdom's forces. But Kang's army breaks through their defences. Quicksilver saves a mother and child, but is himself injured. She hides him and nurses him back to health.

Meanwhile Cap, Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch make a last stand in the throne room, but are eventually subdued. Kang condemns them to death, including the missing Quicksilver.

Kang orders that he and Ravonna be wed. But Baltag and his other commanders insist that Kang follow tradition and kill Ravonna and the king, lest they inspire a rebellion. Kang refuses, which his troops see as a sign of weakness. Baltag leads a revolt, but Kang escapes.

Kang recruits his 3 captive Avengers to help rescue Ravonna. Then they mobilise the loyal citizens. Baltag is already proving himself less of a leader than Kang, when Kang and his gang invade the palace. Kang reaches his control complex, which his keyed to his biosignature, and disables all Baltag's army's weapons. Kang and the Avengers enter the throne room to find that Quicksilver has captured Baltag and the other commanders.

Kang honours a promise to leave the kingdom free, and he also vows to stop stalking Ravonna. Just as he sends the Avengers home, Baltag tries to shoot him. Ravonna always actually admired Kang somewhat. Now that he has proven a man of honour, and shown the lengths he will go for her sake, she realises she actually loves him. And she sacrifices her life to save Kang's.

Back in their own time the Avengers don't realise they are being watched from afar by Dr Doom.
