Jane Foster muses on her new duty to protect the Ten Realms from anything that would threaten them so now she and the reassembled League of Realms are out to liberate Alfheim from the grip of the Dark Elves and rescue the Queen. Jane leads the way as Thor while Roz Solomon directs the action from her flying car. Screwbeard and Ud seek to enter the city via the sewers while Thor uses Mjolnir to lift Sif and Sir Ivory over the wall and Angela flies to the top of the tower...

Flashback one day to show us the reforming of the League of Realms and to introduce the lineup: Sif of Asgard, Sir Ivory Honeyshot of Alfheim, Screwbeard of the dwarves of Nidavellir, Angela, exile from Heven, Ud the Troll, Ro Bloodroot a wizard of Vanaheim, Titanya Vaetilda Vinnsuvius a mountain giant of Jotunheim, and Roz Solomon, Agent of SHIELD for Midgard/Earth. Together they are determined to free Alfheim from enemy control....

Now the separate teams enter the capital city of Ljosalfgard, something sends Bloodroot into a mysterious trance and an impatient Angela crashes in via the highest tower where she discovers the captive Queen Featherwine but as soon as Angela touches her, she is revealed to be an illusion which sets off an alarm summoning all of the Dark Elf fighters to the city. Open battle breaks out which is interrupted by the arrival of Malekith with his new Kurse (Loki and the Queen are seen in the background)....

Review / Commentaries

The Mighty Thor #13 Review by (November 29, 2016)
Comments: Of the members of the League of Realms, Sir Ivory Honeyshot of the Light Elves, Screwbeard of the Dwarves, and Ud the Troll return from THOR GOD OF THUNDER #13-17, this issue adds established characters Sif, Angela, and Roz Solomon. New (to the League and to Marvel) with this issue are Ro Bloodroot and Titanya. First appearance of the new Kurse who was mentioned in issue #6.

Review: The League of Realms came at an auspicious moment in THOR GOD OF THUNDER #13-17; up to that point, the title, as written by Jason Aaron and drawn by Esad Ribic, was dark and grim and miserable. Aaron lightened up after this and, abetted by Ron Garney on art, he delivered a more crowd-pleasing and attractive tale of mismatched heroes and brought a little fun to the comic. Now he brings back those characters at a serious point in his ongoing epic and again they are fun with their frequent inter-realm squabbling and we may see an end to the Malekith plot eventually. For now all is cool.
