In Asgard, Loki (a woman since issue #4) is sowing seeds of dissatisfaction by suggesting to Balder, and then to the Warriors Three that they are not availing themselves of the freedom which Thor won for them (and questioning their manhood if they do not seek heroic glory in this new world). Later, Balder approaches Loki about a means of fighting the Frost Giants sighted in the Rocky Mountains (another goad from Loki). The Trickster God opens a magic portal and the hero finds himself in the icy mountains….
Meanwhile, Volstagg is considering joining the Avengers while Heimdall mocks his foolishness in listening to Loki’s advice. They are interrupted by a voice calling from below: it is Bill Junior from Broxton come to visit the Lady Kelda, who he has had a crush on since she visited the town (issue #6). After several vain attempts to toss a bouquet of flowers up to her, she invites him in and gives him a tour of Asgard….
In the Rocky Mountains, the pensive Balder runs into the Frost Giants (unaware that Loki has dispatched them) as they are menacing a stranded motorist and his young son. The brave hero leaps into action and vanquishes his foes—with the aid of Loki, who "fortunately" appears on the scene. Result: the two Asgardians are arrested by the police. Thor soon bails them out and they returns to Asgard (where Bill is trying in vain to teach the Aesir how to play basketball). Later, Loki persuades Balder that Thor does not have his best interests at heart and reveals the shocking news that Balder is in reality the son of Odin and half-brother to Thor.
