Prologue: Several weeks ago, SHIELD Agent Roz Solomon was on an unauthorized mission against Roxxon Corporation when she received a call from Agent Coulson. Hiding what she was really doing, she (barely) convinced him she was on vacation. He broke the news to her that Thor had lost his worthiness to hold Mjolnir. Roz went to the moon where his mighty hammer had fallen to see if he was there. Thor was not, so she started musing on the threat to Earth that Roxxon was, and wished for some sort of power to defeat the villains…and then she glanced at Mjolnir….

Now the new female Thor is on Roxxon Island, doing battle with the Destroyer, Asgard’s greatest weapon, animated by Cul Borson a/k/a the Serpent, the God of Fear, at the command of his brother Odin to return Mjolnir and its bearer to Asgard. She is knocked down by her foe’s laser blasts and when she recovers she sees the monster clutching the mighty hammer….

On Midgard, Thor (the original a/k/ Odinson) is contacted by his mother Freyja, who asks his help in stopping Odin’s scheme. They need an army; Thor has the list of suspects for the new Thor….

Elsewhere on the island, Roxxon CEO Dario Agger and his new ally Malekith the Accursed watch the battle between Thor and the Destroyer then head to Alfheim in search of the blood which will seal the pact between them; there they go on to slaughter the Light Elves….

Destroyer hits Thor in the face with her own hammer; she exerts the power that sends Mjolnir spinning around the island, dragging its huge bearer after it. The oil-drenched Destroyer is set aflame and Thor recovers Mjolnir but she is resisting the thought that this may be her last battle. Suddenly Odinson and Freyja arrive—with an army of women warriors to fight by her side….

Review / Commentaries

Thor #7 Review by (April 19, 2015)
Comments: Thor and Freyja’s army on the final page includes Sif, Valkyrie, Angela. Scarlet With, Black Widow, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and more.

Review: Wait, they said they were not going to reveal New Thor’s identity until next issue. So they spend nearly this entire issue falling just short of saying that she’s Roz Solomon? They had better have some trick up their collective sleeve to make the surprise really, um, surprising. This is still a really cool book, one of my favorite Marvel titles these days because it lacks the dark and heavy tone Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic brought to the previous volume. Who knew Aaron could write a story so enjoyable?
