Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon (2026 series) #2 synopsis by reviewer Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3.5 stars

Then: Wolverine, working for the CIA, delivers Frank Simpson to the super-soldier project overseen by Professor Ford. Ford throws a fit at the scars on Simpson’s face; when his assistant Professor Ash intervenes, Ford insults and threatens him. Logan takes his leave of Simpson, who is floating in a tank of water, wishing him the best…and wondering if they will ever send Simpson after him….

Now: Professor Ash welcomes the arrival of Frank “Nuke” Simpson and his handler Donaldson to track down Wolverine who is assumed to be tracking both the bomber and the mutant. Ash insists on coming along to recover The Box; Nuke gives his okay and they set out….

The mystery terrorist who has been bombing super-solder sites holds Teri O’Barnes and Wolverine at gunpoint but Logan doesn’t see him as a killer and he attacks. There is a struggle but the man does not reach for his shield, giving away his peaceful nature. Teri recognizes him as David Colton, the latest Captain America, trying to stop the super-soldier project….

Then: Frank Simpson is sent out as a test and he is almost killed by a bear. Professor Ford accuses Ash of botching the project….

Now: Nuke and his team discover Teri’s car and deduce she must have come up with a way to hide the missing Tyler’s mutant gene. They also know it will soon wear off thanks to Tyler’s regenerative abilities. And that’s when they realize Nuke is missing….

Teri reveals what they know about Dave Cap and he tells them that Tyler was implanted with a living Adamantium that can change its shape. Suddenly, the psychic block wears off and Teri knows where Tyler is…

…and he is in town where a late night pedestrian catches him rooting through a dumpster for clothing. Tyler panics and transforms into a man of metal bands, terrifying the dude who pleads for mercy. Tyler apologizes and flees….

Meanwhile, Nuke is in the woods when he encounters a bear. His mind goes back to his creation. Professor Ford introduced a pharmaceutical aspect to his training: white pills to calm him down, blue to maintain a normal state and red to boost his adrenaline…but the red one is missing. Ash has already fed it to Nuke and locked Ford in the lab with the insane Nuke….

Now: Logan and Teri now try to persuade Dave to come out of hiding, openly working with others to stop the project but Nuke has found them and riddles the cabin with automatic weapons fire. Teri hides while Logan and Dave Cap rush out to confront the madman. Then Nuke fires a rocket into the cabin and it explodes….

Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon (2026 series) #2 Review by (June 30, 2026)

Review: Wolverine versus embittered Captain America (David Colton) versus insane Captain America (Nuke). The story doesn’t advance much, especially if we already knew who Dave Cap was; the story was getting us caught up on the players, rather violently, with advances in the plot reserved for next issue. We do get an often horrific glimpse of the Super-Soldier Program but we’ve probably already read the original WEAPON X miniseries and that was more horrific than anything here. But we’ve been promised that this miniseries will prepare the way, somehow, for ARMAGEDDON. Well, Dave Cap is in there so…so far so good.

Comments: The comic is bannered “Armageddon assembles in three months.”
