Wonder Man #15 Review by (December 26, 2021)
This is a tie-in to the Infinity War mini-series connecting to IW#6 but it doesn't sport the IW banner..

This really is 1 big battle issue.

It doesn't really matter what happens to Wonder Man at the end of the issue because he and all the others are going to be restored back on Earth before the end of IW#6. But for the record, despite being declared not 1 of the survivors of the Dop battle he's seen with the other still-alive heroes on Magus' trophy and later escapes the cataclysmic finale with the others in Galactus' spaceship.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Wonder Man #15 Synopsis by Rob Johnson
At the end of Infinity War #5 Thanos sent the Expeditionary Force of superheroes through a portal to the Magus' fortress where they were immediately beset by more of their Doppelgagers. (Thanos was supposed to come with them but he'd actually sent them as a diversion while he went to tackle Magus directly alone.)

Wonder Man is in the thick of it, but has currently convinced himself that he is only ionic energy that *thinks* it is Simon Williams. Lately his ionic power has been fluctuating but just now his strength is overclocked enough to KO a Hulk-Dop with 1 punch. Currently violence and anger fuel his strength and he uses it to beat up a Dop of Vision, his android 'brother' who haunts his life. Dops of Hercules, Strong Guy and Guardian follow until the real Herc worries that his rage has taken him over again. But Simon Williams says he now *is* his rage, and takes it out on a Colossus-Dop. Then he bumps into Thing and, unsure if he's the real Ben Grimm or a duplicate, belts him anyway. However Ben's verbal response is enough to convince WM so they stand back-to-back against more Dops. Then Simon sees Scarlet Witch being attacked by the Dops of Captain America and Drax so he rushes to her rescue and bops her assailants. However it is *she* who turns out to be the Dop.

But now it's time for the big match. The/a Wonder Man Dop turns up and Wondy won't let anyone but him take him on. They exchange mighty blows. Simon hates his Dop for mirroring the rage and violence within himself, but knows that he has stoke the fire even more to beat him. And as Simon punches him he sees him as figures from his past:- Baron Zemo who 'created' him. Simon Williams who wouldn't stay dead. Executioner (I think) who 'used' him (but surely only a Zemo's henchman?). Grim Reaper (his brother Eric) who brought him back to 'life'. Iron Man who tried to make him a hero. Scarlet Witch who made him think he could love. And current friends Alex Flores and Spider Beach. Until he rips the head off his Dop opponent.

With the fight over the rage goes away leaving the weak man. But he now feels that there is no man to return to. He senses Dops surrounding him but he just doesn't care. He lies down and waits to die (or be absorbed into a Dop).
