Story continues from NEW AVENGERS ANNUAL #3.

The Hood, wielding the Norn Stones given to him by Loki, uses them to power up his gang of already-formidable supervillains. Now they are ready to go hunting…. Captain America (Bucky Barnes) and Steve Rogers are on a rooftop, surveying the damaged Avengers safe house as H.A.M.M.E.R. agents search the ruins. Suddenly a bolt of light energy strikes the roof near them; the Living Laser is on the scene. Cap opens fire at the villain while Steve rushes down to the ruined building. Cap holds off the Laser—but doesn’t realize another figure is behind him until it is too late. The Corruptor touches Bucky’s face bringing him under the control of the sinister criminal….

Meanwhile on another rooftop, Spider-Man and Spider-Woman are keeping an eye on Avengers Tower which is occupied by Norman Osborn and his Dark Avengers. Spidey irritates his female counterpart by his usual clowning around while trying to assure her they will bring down Osborn…. Back at the ruined house, Steve fights his way past the H.A.M.M.E.R. agents to recover his Captain America shield from its hiding place. He raises it just in time to deflect gunshots from an unseen foe who turns out to be….Bucky. The new Cap, under control of the Corruptor, warns Steve that he can’t stop this. The villain restrains Living Laser from getting involved because he wants to see what happens next. Corruptor gives the command to fire; Cap shoots—and Steve deflect the bullet with his shield so that it pierces the villain’s neck. Cap collapses leaving him and Steve open to the Laser who leaps forward with a killing blow….

On the other rooftop, the two Spider-heroes have been spotted by the Griffin and Mandrill, who attack; Spidey’s Spider-Sense warns them in time to meet their foes. As Spidey takes on the now much-stronger Griffin, Spider-Woman is seized by the Mandrill who uses his pheromones to control her mind and commands her to kill Spider-Man. Suddenly without warning she turns and blasts her Avengers partner hurling him off the roof toward the street below….
