Rating: 4 stars

David Levine is on a golf course in Augusta, Georgia, playing with a Senator. He chases a ball into the woods where he is taken captive at knifepoint by Black Widow. Aboard a private jet, she questions him about his ties to Chaos but he insists he knows nothing, the organization is totally secretive. He was roped into working for them by threats to his family and he merely follows orders, moving money around without being told why. She demands to know when their next meeting is. He claims not to know, they are informed only before it is to happen; she threatens to push him out of the plane. Levine can only tell her that the group’s leader has missing fingers. She hands him a parachute and shoves him out the door and moves on to the next name on the list…

Mr. Safaa, who she finds at a construction site in Dubai. She tortures him with a nail gun, checking to see if he has all of his fingers. The members of the Chaos accountants, masked and under heavy guard, assemble for the meeting aboard the ship. They don’t know who called the meeting…until Natasha unmasks at the table and hurls a flash-bang which stuns the group. As the guards remain locked out of the room, Natasha paces atop the conference table, holding a grenade, brushing off threats and demanding answers. The guards shoot the door lock off so Nat throws the grenade then dashes over the decks gunning down guards until she is slugged and beaten by an invisible man….

In an interlude, Maria Hill visits Isaiah Ross in the hospital and he hands over the list of Chaos accountants. Hill mentions that Natasha is the only one she can confide in—but also noting Nat is the only person she is afraid of….

The invisible man throws Natasha overboard and hurls a grenade after her. It explodes….

Black Widow (2014 series) #14 Review by (October 28, 2025)

Review: A portrait of Natasha at her most ruthless, on a trail of intimidation and murder. Oddly, the one character we learns most about is Maria Hill and her relationship with the Black Widow. Well, that’s largely because Maria Hill has never had a comic book of her own.

Comments: Part three of six parts.
