Captured
by Captain America and Iron Man, Veronica Eden volunteers to tell them
everything they want to know in exchange for a plea deal. She reveals that
Fifty-One is going after the Myrmidon armor to launch an attack on Minneapolis
and offers to take them to him. Tony thinks this is about the Supreme Hydra
armor Fifty-One has, worn by a rogue Captain America and Steve feels partly
responsible. They agree to let Eden guide them to Fifty-One’s hideout. Before
they leave, the Paladins (Pioneer, Vox, Prima Donna, and Think Tank) offer to
go with them but they are turned down. They ask for advice and Cap tells them
to stop thinking of themselves so much and learn the job as there are no
shortcuts….
Later,
the Paladins complain and bicker among themselves but Vox suggests they go help
Cap and Iron Man who don’t know what they’re up against….
Eden
guides Cap and Shellhead to Fifty-One’s hideout which turns out to be a SHIELD
Helicarrier. On entry, the two Avengers fight Myrmidon, with the armored Fifty-One
suddenly appearing and taking over that battle. They find the massive Overseer
computer which has made the Helicarrier an extension of itself. Veronica Eden
reveals that she and the Overseer are in love and with her plans to take over
Hydra foiled, they will be moving to Plan B: destroying all super-powered
people, heroes and villains alike, because they are responsible for many of the
world’s crises and after that the planet will be guarded by an elite military
unit. Myrmidon and Fifty-One reappear and it takes the combined might of the
three heroes to finally destroy it. Meanwhile, Overseer is double-crossing Eden
and it has disabled the fail-safes Eden had installed. And then there enters an
army of Myrmidons….
