Silver Surfer Rebirth: Legacy (2023 series) #4

Mephisto tricked Legacy into getting him the Time Gem, and then used it to lose the hero in time. Silver Surfer persuaded Thanos to use the Reality Gem to help find him. They rescued Genis-Vell but SS got lost in time instead. Genis wanted Thanos to find Surfer but the Titan said he'd done what he said he'd do so now he's going home. Last issue ended with Surfer at the end of time (but still on a functioning Earth! - but without humans) where he met Galactus and his Herald the female Nova (Frankie Raye).

Mephisto says his plan has worked perfectly and now his hated foe Silver Surfer is out of his hair forever.

Big G as usual is intent on devouring the planet. SS as usual is intent on stopping him because it still harbours life. But Nova leads him away. Norrin Radd is confused because he knows that Frankie (who was his lover) died at the hands of a villain (in SS(1987)#75). Nova says that in *her* timeline that didn't happen but Surfer has been missing for millennia. Now he's tempted to stay with her. But Galactus interrupts by starting the process of consuming the planet's energy. And SS powers up to attack him.

Thanos and Legacy are back in the present on the Titan's farm planet. They repeat their disagreement about rescuing Surfer but Thanos says he has his crops to harvest. Genis tries to force him but Thanos is unaffected, and GV wisely backs down. The Titan dismisses him and the cosmic hero goes to seek other aid.

Galactus easily bats his attacking ex-Herald away. He lands in front of a robot named Lit-Rob 839 who has preserved the works of Shakespeare in his brain long after the demise of humanity, and speaks in appropriately Shakespearian phrases. But Surfer ignores him and flies his surfboard back into the fray. Nova again tries to stop him but he says she should instead be helping him. However she falls back on her oath to serve her master. Norrin begs his old master to choose another, lifeless world but Big G blasts him back into the timestream. Where he sees various events including versions of himself as a member of the Fantastic Five, wielding the Infinity Gauntlet or wearing Quasar's quantum wristbands.

'Meanwhile' Legacy has followed an energy trail and discovered a destroyed spaceship where he finds his target Eve Warlock, who says she tracked the High Evolutionary here but he escaped.
