Synopsis

Web of Black Widow #5 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

The false Black Widow has been revealed as Anya, daughter of the former Headmistress, and she has the real Black Widow at her mercy. Anya has been killing in Natasha’s guise to promote the creation of a new Red Room, as protection from the old Red Room’s best agent, “rogue” Natasha. The villainess also explains that she had a special virus designed to block memories introduced into Nat’s recent body transfer. With that, Nat sets off a flash grenade and overpowers Anya as Iron Man appears and Hawkeye reveals he is still alive. This was all part of a scheme cooked up by the heroes to discover what had affected Nat’s memories in order to find a remedy. Winter Soldier and Yelena Belova also come out of the shadows as Nat explains she did the one thing Anya would never expect: she trusted her friends. Anya starts shooting and flees and Nat follows, insisting on doing this alone. There is a fight, Anya gets her hands around Nat’s throat—and then she is hit by a very familiar shield. Nat picks it up and clocks her again with it. And then Captain America shows up to claim his property….

With the knowledge of how her memories were corrupted, Tony Stark is able to restore them. And Natasha says “Thank you.”
