Avengers, The (1963 series) #367 synopsis by reviewer T Vernon
Rating: 3 stars

The Vision is pondering whether he can truly feel love, prompted by Crystal’s confession that she may be in love with Black Knight. Vision wonders if he should run a diagnostic on himself as he descends into the mansion—right in the path of several rockets. They pass through him and Captain America and Black Widow scold him about entering the workout room without warning. He apologizes and ponders the close friendship between Cap and Natasha.

Vision recalls his marriage to Scarlet Witch and chances upon Hercules and his paramour Taylor Madison as they hash out why they can’t be together: Herc thinks it’s because he has such a long history of lovers but Taylor indicates that it is because he’s immortal and she isn’t so she departs in tears, asking him to never call her again. Vision is ashamed at trespassing on this private moment and he disappears, pondering his own immortal status….

Vision enters the medical chamber where he finds Magdalene brooding over the pod containing the comatose Swordsman. Vision does not know why she is there when there is little likelihood he can sense what she is saying; she responds that he knows nothing about love. Vision checks Swordsman’s vital signs and notes a marked improvement and Philip revives, making Magdalene very happy. Vision again can’t understand their feelings and goes to alert Hank Pym. But Vision holds Pym back from the medical chamber. He asks about their connection by way of Ultron and their common history of failed marriages. Hank says he misses Jan every day but Vision has no feelings at all for Wanda. Hank says they may be able to fix that but now must rush off to see the Swordsman….

Vision enters baby Luna’s room, startling Crystal who is cuddling her daughter. Vision apologizes for not being able to respond to her friendship in kind. She explains her daughter reminds her of the happiest times she had with her husband Pietro. Vision reveals that he can remember everything about his twin sons—except how he felt around them. She promises that feeling can sneak up on us when least expected, telling him to stop worrying….

Vision goes up to the roof where he finds Deathcry surveying the stars. He amuses her with his lack of humor, suggesting the Synthezoids once created on Shi’ar. She notes he once had several romantic relationships; when he relegates them to the past, she gives him a passionate kiss but he doesn’t respond. She accuses him of being afraid of his feelings and walks away. Vision is filled with rage at the accusation and punches a hole in the wall. He is embarrassed by this display and schedules himself for a diagnostic the next day….

Epilogue: Late at night, two mysterious figures [one is later revealed to be Fabian Cortez] suddenly appear in baby Luna’s room and kidnap the child….

Avengers, The (1963 series) #367 Review by (October 24, 2025)
Comments: Vision was reconstituted in his white and unemotional form in WEST COAST AVENGERS #43-45, appearing here in that form in #348; he was switched into the old colored body in #360, keeping the cold personality. Taylor Madison was introduced in issue #349 and next appears in #380. Swordsman has been in a coma since issue #363. Epilogue leads into the Bloodties crossover starting next issue. Issue includes a portrait of Crystal and Quicksilver by Clarke Hawbaker.

Review: A Vision-centric issue explores his lack of feelings and his feelings about his lack of feelings. So Vision has multiple variations of complaining about the central issue, comes to no conclusion (other than that there’s something wrong with him), and the matter is never revisited, at least not in the next ten issues—that’s as far as I skimmed ahead. The interesting bits (by default) all concern others, presented by the author to serve as foils to Vision’s shortcomings. So we have Herc’s break-up with Taylor (were they even together?) and Magdalene’s mooning over Swordsman, who makes a comeback that surprises everyone, including the reader who had likely forgotten he was in the comic. We learn Hank Pym still misses Janet (but does she miss him?) and Crystal also still feels for Pietro. Everyone’s feelings are on display so Vision can make the matters about himself. And inferior art hurts the issue which might have been more interesting had it looked better.
