Avengers Forever #12 Review by (December 24, 2022)
The 1st Firmament and later Cosmoses were introduced in the post-Secret Wars Ultimates series. They recently featured in the Defenders: Beyond mini-series.

The Avengers Assemble crossover will continue in Avengers #64 where the current and 1M BC Avengers will end their battle with the Multiversal Masters Of Evil. And then back in our next issue where Doom Supreme's plan and the identity of Avenger Prime will be revealed.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Avengers Forever #12 Synopsis by Rob Johnson
In the Avengers Assemble Alpha 1-shot Avenger Prime left Avengers Tower in the God Quarry to see the current Earth-616 Avengers and the 1M BC Avengers fight each other and then the Multiversal Masters Of Evil. But the Red Council of alternate-universe Mephistos seemed to kill him and use his portal to invade the God Quarry.

Now they attack the Tower but they are met by Captain Carter leading the Howling Commandos, an assembly of alternate Steve Rogers as Captain Americas. They include Weapon America and the other Steves we met in #7, 1 of them a dog. Flying Mephistos show up to be opposed by the Carol Corps from #9. Then a giant Mephisto gets taken down by Thor, God Of Fists from #8. And another couple by Star Panther from #6.

Inside the Tower the Ant-Man (Tony Stark) of Earth-818 has been reunited with Vision and Moon Knight (Mariama Spector) from the same Earth. In AA Alpha he arrived with Robbie Reyes in the Hell Charger car. Robbie had evolved from Ghost Rider to the mythical All-Rider but has now lost all his power after trying to single-handedly defeat the MMOE last issue.

Vision explains that the God Quarry is the graveyard of dead Gods and it lies on the border between the 1st Firmament and all later universes. But Stark is more interested in the ant-farm he sees among the historical Avengers displays in the Tower.

Soon he and the other 2 are shrunk down to ride ants into the bowels of the Quarry, intending to resurface behind the Mephistos and take out their leaders. Instead they find more Mephistos digging down into the Quarry. Vision realises that they intend to break through to the 1st Firmament, and from there they could conquer all later universes including the current multiverse.

Our 3 heroes' only option is to attack but they're vastly outnumbered. 1 demon grabs the now-sober Tony Stark and tries to force booze down his throat while another stabs him in the back with a broken bottle. Moon Knight is having more success but tells Vizh to get Ant-Man to safety. He's the only Tony Stark they have to represent that pillar of the Avengers. But help is at hand. The 3 Goddesses Of Thunder arrive with Old Man Phoenix (Logan/Wolverine). (We last saw the Goddesses in #4 where they found Phoenix Logan's arms and set out to reassemble the rest of him.)
