Synopsis

Black Widow #6 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Reporter Nick Crane is at a trendy nightclub with a gorgeous blonde model hitting on him; he excuses himself to go to the restroom where a bearded man warns him that blonde is out to kill him. The blonde clobbers Nick’s two bodyguards and enters the restroom to find Nick alone. Then the bearded man bursts out of a stall and fights the woman. Nick does not know who to believe so he decides to run when the blonde pulls the mask off the bearded man to reveal the Black Widow. Nick is shocked but the blonde stabs Natasha in the shoulder and hustles Nick out of the room. Nick drives off and the blonde reveals she is called Fatale, hired to protect him from Black Widow….

Flashbacks show that Nick’s father, Senator Whit Crane, a promising candidate for Vice-President and known for his moral lifestyle, was seen with a woman resembling Natasha on tape. A scandal resulted which led to Crane’s suicide. Nick then took a job as a journalist to uncover the truth and an anonymous source identified the mystery woman as Natasha Romanova, the Black Widow. But it was not Natasha so she set out to find the killer impersonating her….

Nat pursues Nick and Fatale in her car. Fatales asks Nick to reveal his source for the mystery woman’s identity but he refuses as he does not trust Fatale. She then threatens to stab him in the eye with a thin-bladed knife is he doesn’t tell her how he knows who she is and what connects her to three other political murders. Then Black Widow lands in the open car and the two female agents fight in a very precarious position. Nat fires a rappel device that hooks onto a high spot on the bridge and she wraps the other end around Fatale’s wrist so that she is jerked out of the car. Then then stops the car, point a gun at Nat’s face, telling her, “Say hello to my father.” And then he fires….

Black Widow #6 Review by (August 6, 2024)

Review: Wow! Fast-paced spy story throws Natasha right into the middle of non-stop action, including a fight aboard a speeding car! Plus a complicated plot involving political murders, framing Nat as the bad guy! All well and good but the comic is not going to sustain this.

Comments: Introduction of Fatale, whose only appearances are in this three-issue tale. Ditto Nick Crane.
