Synopsis

Captain America/Iron Man #5 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Aboard the Overseer-controlled Helicarrier, Captain America in the Hydra armor and Veronica Eden with Doc Ock’s tentacles on a Goblin Glider battle a number of Myrmidons. On the ground, Iron Man races to save Fifty-One from his murderous partners, the Paladins (Pioneer, Vox, Prima Donna, and Think Tank) who are about to kill him when Myrmidons arrive to kill Fifty-One themselves. Then Iron Man arrives and carries off the captive alien. On the carrier, Cap and Eden battle the Myrmidons while debating the big moral question whether superpeople should be trusted or eliminated. Cap brings it down to the individual to learn responsibility. Iron Man meets Cap at Overseer and Fifty-One calmly walks into the computer’s maw. The robotic Myrmidons stop attacking and disperse. The Paladins know they can’t win but fight anyway and are subdued by Cap and Shellhead. Fifty-One reveals that he has been merged with Overseer so he dumps his visitors out of a hatch and the Helicarrier departs. Iron Man and Veronica Eden catch all the non-flyers and get them safely to the ground….

Later, Steve and Tony talk over matters and unanswered questions. The Helicarrier is cloaked and cannot be traced and Veronica Eden? We see her on the run—until she is found by Baron Zemo….

Captain America/Iron Man #5 Review by (March 23, 2022)

Review: Wrap-up to the mini-series hits all the right notes, including smashing robots and the heroes beating up some super-powered kids. Veronica Eden’s self-aware narration sets it apart from other team-up tales. And again we have a debate on whether superheroes are a good or an evil. Cap’s declaration that supers must learn to be responsible on their own doesn’t really solve anything. And it looks as though Veronica will return, which is nice.
