Synopsis

Captain America: Living Legend (2013 series) #4 synopsis by reviewer Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3.5 stars

1945: We learn what we had suspected, that Sgt. Volkov killed his injured commander and pretended to give the order to attack in his name….

Today: Inside the launch facility in Siberia, Captain America has been possessed by the dark energy monster and his body is morphing in horrendous ways. . Volkov exerts his will and the monster is quieted long enough for Cap to tell Dr. Lauren Fox to shut down the DEUS reactor powering the entity and for Col. Gridenko to guard her. Cap recovers his shield while the others destroy the metal creatures with lasers; he then gives the shield to Fox for protection. Cap heads off to find Volkov who explains that the dark entity only wants to die and its death wish is what has proved deadly to everyone else. Volkov has managed to suppress it from multiplying and asks Cap to correct his wartime mistake by killing him. Unwillingly, Cap shoots a hole in the cosmonaut’s head but he doesn’t die until the reactor is shut down. As they walk out, the Science Minister demands to know what has been going on; Cap blows up the facility and Gridenko knocks his superior to the ground. The defecting Russian officer then joins Cap and Dr Fox for a trip back to the USA.

Captain America: Living Legend (2013 series) #4 Review by (December 12, 2013)
Review: The miniseries wraps up in grand fashion, leaving us feeling sorry for the villain and the monster who both only wanted to die. Took a while to get where it was going but it was worth it in the end. Nice, if dreary, art and an okay story.
