Story Name:

Silent But Deadly

Synopsis

Defenders #12 synopsis by Julio Molina-Muscara
Rating: 4 stars

Silent Month issue. The curse brings the Defenders, Hulk, Doctor Strange, Silver Surfer and the Sub-Mariner to a place in Earth where that knows of no sound. This makes it difficult to explain to the Hulk the great danger the planet is under once again. When Jade Jaws finally gets it, giant stone monsters surround him. The heroes destroy the monsters and the rocky place turns into a garden.

Story #2

Fooling with Mother Nature

Writer: Jo Duffy. Penciler: Ivan Reis. Inker: Randy Emberlin. Colorist: Tom Smith. Letterer: Chris Eliopoulos.

Synopsis

Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Silver Surfer, the Sub-Mariner, Valkyrie (Samantha Parrington), Hellcat, and Nighthawk fight dinosaurs that were brought back from the past. Hulk catches a villain responsible for that, called Chronarch, and rips his metallic costume off.

Meanwhile, the Silver Surfer locks the enormous reptiles in cosmic energy spheres, and reactivates the time travel device to send them back in time. Chronarch claims the dinosaurs showed up by accident. He controlled the time device so they wouldn’t kill him.

Strange invites the other big three (Hulk, Silver Surfer and Sub-Mariner) to discuss the Yandroth’s curse at his Sanctum Sanctorum. The other three wonder what made their companions’ attitude change so much.

At Strange’s mansion, Nighthawk invites Papa Hagg in. The small wizard offers his help to rid of the curse. But Strange kicks him off with a magic blast (!?) Strange realizes that Mother-Goddess, Gaea, feeds the curse, so they must deal directly with her. As they vanish, a pair of eyes and a diabolic smirk appear in the dark...

The four Defenders plus Nighthawk ask Gaea to release them from the curse. But she denies their plea, since she wants them to keep protecting the Earth.

Angry, they attack Gaea. But Earth’s goddess reflects them with but a gesture. Vanished from her presence to the Himalayas, the powerful quartet agrees to take over the world so they can avoid all situations that trigger the curse. Nighthawk doesn’t give credit to his eyes.
