Fear Itself: The Home Front #2 Review by (June 11, 2024)

Review: Speedball story: See issue #1 for full review. Agents of Atlas story: See issue #1 for full review. A Moment with the Purple Man: again, fairly pointless. The Liz Allan story is very effective, showing the fear trickling down to the common people and how even an unappreciated character like Liz Allan can rise to a measure of heroism when needed.

Comments: Story 1: Part two of seven. Story 2: Part two of four.

Fear Itself: The Home Front #2 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

In Stamford CT, Speedball is being beaten by an angry mob who blame him for the city’s notorious disaster; SB is hit at an odd angle which causes him to bounce out of the mob’s clutches and into the distance. He changes back to his street clothes and is picked up by his pal Leonard. Leonard takes Robbie back to the Damien’s Gift offices where Miriam Sharpe surprises him by hiding him, not for his own safety but for the safety of the fools who are trying to kill him. The TV announces that several villains have broken out of the Vault and are now running wild in Stamford: Living Laser, Ember, Icemaster, Whirlwind, and Aftershock. Speedball dashes out to fight them but their combined powers overwhelm SB and they leave him lying injured in the street. He is found by the mob who have devised a way to kill him; they put a plastic bag over his head…but Miriam Sharpe arrives with a rifle pointed at them, ordering them to stop….
