Energy Crisis

Synopsis

Hulk and Power Pack #2 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Power Pack (Alex/Zero-G, Julie/Lightspeed, Jack/Mass Master, Katie/Energizer) battles a bunch of Hydra agents in a secret lab. The villains unleash “Specimen Z,” which gives off an electrical aura. Energizer/Katie absorbs the energy into herself, rendering the device inactive. They head to the ceremony where their father, Professor Power and Bruce Banner are going to exhibit their new invention. Soon, the two scientists unveil the electro-magnetic field generation, a clean and environmentally safe new energy source. Katie starts feeling sick and she releases the energy absorbed earlier and it goes into the new generator, revealing itself to be Zzzax. Bruce gets Professor Power to safety then takes on the villain as the Hulk. But Hulk doesn’t know how to shut down the generator powering the monster. Lightspeed/Julie figures it out: they attach a cable to a chunk of girder and Hulk throws it through Zzzax into the pool on the other side, burning out the creature….

Professor Power and Bruce meet again, lamenting the end of their new generator but the kids are pleased….

“Armageddon Unleashed”
Writer: Paul Tobin. Everything else: Chris Giarrusso.
Synopsis: Hulk and the Power Pack kids are at Devil Dinosaur’s day care. Katie messes her diaper and there is no one to change it (Devil Dinosaur surely can’t). They go to Hawkeye but his interest is in creating a diaper-changing arrow. They ask Spider-Man but he first wants to decide what they will call a web diaper. The Watcher and Nick Fury refuse outright. Finally, Doctor Strange casts a spell that makes a clean diaper appear on Katie but where did the dirty one go? Onto a very surprised Iron Man.

Review / Commentaries

Hulk and Power Pack #2 Review by (July 26, 2022)

Review: Cute all-ages stories are a lot of fun for those who haven’t lost a sense of joy in the simple stuff. A lot of action too with a clever, kid-friendly climax. Cool! And the Mini-Marvels story adds just the right note of absurdity, centering on a dirty diaper, which may be taking kid-oriented comics to a low point.

Comments: First story: Part two of two parts. Stories set on Earth-5631. Stories take place immediately after SPIDER-MAN AND POWER PACK (2007 series). Colors credited to Naoko Kawano and Gurihiru. Second story: Mini-Marvels come from Earth-99062.
