Synopsis

Incredible Hulk, The (1968 series) #394 synopsis by reviewer Julio MM
Rating: 3 stars

In the icy isolation of the Himalayas, Atalanta, the Pantheon’s elusive archer, goes missing—prompting the Hulk to launch a solo rescue mission. But he’s not the only one searching. The mysterious villain Trauma, a mercenary with a twisted obsession and advanced weaponry, attempts to kidnap Atalanta, exploiting her vulnerability in the harsh terrain.

Hulk confronts Trauma, but the encounter turns dire. Trauma’s weapon—a brutal, high-tech device designed to pierce even gamma-hardened flesh—injures the Hulk severely, leaving a gaping hole in his back. For a moment, the Jade Giant falls, his invincibility shattered.

But Hulk’s healing factor, fueled by rage and resolve, kicks in. He recovers, tracks down Atalanta, and defeats Trauma in a climactic showdown that blends brute force with emotional stakes. With Atalanta safe, Hulk departs, leaving behind the frozen battlefield and the wreckage of Trauma’s ambitions.

Back home, a quieter drama unfolds. Marlo Chandler and Betty Ross reveal to Rick Jones that they’ve met a woman claiming to be his mother—a revelation that shakes Rick to his core. He had always believed she died when he was a child, and the possibility that she’s alive opens a floodgate of questions, memories, and unresolved pain.

Incredible Hulk, The (1968 series) #394 Review by (August 8, 2025)
This chapter juxtaposes physical trauma with emotional reckoning, showing that even in a world of superhuman battles, the deepest wounds are often personal.
