The Hulk is battling Soviet Armed Forces at a security outpost in Siberia. But he realizes that if he were to smash them, more “puny humans” would appear. So, he leaps away, landing waist-deep in snow. He encounters a baby bear and when he holds it, the mother bear attacks him. Hulk fights back but ends up letting the terrified mother escape with her cub.
Later, the Hulk finds a rainbow and travels to its end. Climate is warmer, and a man riding down the rainbow surprises Hulk. Named Glorian, he resembles a Greek god with golden skin. He convinces the Hulk to follow him up the rainbow.
They transport Hulk to a small paradise planet where he should not feel like an outcast. Hulk explores the pristine land and finds his friend Crackajack (who died in Hulk #182) playing the harmonica. From a spaceship, the Shaper of Worlds (a large alien with the ability to build anything out of dreams) is watching the Hulk with Glorian through a “remote scope.” He thanks Glorian for teaching him the reward of giving others freely and unselfishly.
The next day, Crackajack surprises Hulk by taking him to see none other than the green-skinned Jarella! His former lover from planet K’ai tells the Hulk that nothing will ever come between them.
Meanwhile, on Earth, Betty Ross is upset over the vegetative state of her husband, Glenn Talbot. The doctor informs her and General Thunderbolt Ross that there is nothing science can do for him. Only a miracle would reverse the effects of the ray blast from the Gremlin (shot in Hulk #188).
Back on the Hulk’s planet, the Toad Men abduct Hulk, Crackajack, and Jarella. Hulk puts up a good fight, taking out several with a single hook punch. After being hit with an “infra ray,” Hulk quickly recovers and retaliates by hurling a boulder at the Toad Men. He then grabs the Toad Man leader and tells the alien to leave them alone or he would “crush him like a bug.” But they blast the heroes from behind with magnetoid guns. They carry them onto the Toad spaceship and shackle them. As they venture into space, the Hulk tearfully watches his new home planet getting smaller and smaller through a view port.
