Jarella has been placed in isolation for her own good. But Hulk believes she's in prison and goes rampaging Gamma Base. Finally, Thunderbolt Ross can knock him out with sleeping gas.

Doctor Kerwin Kronus has developed a time machine. He theorizes Banner can cure from becoming the Hulk if he is sent back in time to reach the protection trench on time before the G-bomb blasts. Without being exposed to gamma radiation, he will never become the Hulk.

Before traveling back, Banner speaks with Jarella about the possibility of not seeing the Hulk again. But she is in love with the man inside the Hulk so she encourages Banner to attempt the experiment.

Banner returns in time and reaches the protective wall in time. But, Rick Jones cannot and dies during the explosion. Banner returns to the present day, cannot cope with guilt for Jones' death and faints. After experiencing a nightmare where Kronus was a master of time and the Hulk traveled to the time of dinosaurs and back, Banner decides to go back in time once again but act as he originally did to save Rick Jones' life.

Banner rather prevent his friend's death than to rid of his monstrous side.

Also in this story: Betty Ross, Glenn Talbot, Igor Drenkov.
