After the Hulk battle in Toadworld, the Shaper of Worlds sent the Hulk back to Earth (last issue), appearing in mid water, in Loch Fear, specifically. Angus MacTavish, an ill-fated fisherman who has waited all his life to encounter a sea creature, accidentally nets Hulk, mistaking the green goliath for the creature. Although Hulk is confused, Angus extends an invitation for supper.

While resting, Hulk turns into Bruce Banner. And suddenly, armed goons working for Jaimie Macawber, a local good-for-naught, kidnap Angus, his wife and Banner (“who are ye, mon?”) They’re taken to Macawber’s castle where they’re locked in the tower.

Meanwhile, Thunderbolt Ross, Betty Ross and Clay Quartermain fly back to New Mexico, taking the mindless Glenn Talbot to meet someone who could aid him Dr Leonard Samson.

Back in the castle, Macawber explains Banner why he wants MacTavish locked that night. The fisherman is after the only thing that foments tourism, economics in their small village. That is “Serpent Moon” night, when the monster supposedly appears. As Macawber walks away, they set a hypnotizing device in place for the captives. But it triggers Banner’s metamorphosis. What follows is the Hulk making a massive destruction of the castle and Angus running to the peer to grab an explosive harpoon and board his boat. Hulk follows him and demands to get on board as well.

In Hulkbuster Base, on a lab spared from the destructive Devastator (Hulk #186), Leonard Samson hopes Talbot could regain consciousness by tapping into his subconscious. But he will need the aid of Banner to do so.

In Loch Fear, Angus senses the sea monster was close. His intuition is flawless. A huge dinosaur like monster breaks the boat in two, throwing the two men into the water. Such makes the Hulk mad, but his fists don’t seem to affect the sea monster much. As the beast comes and goes, Angus can finally stick his explosive harpoon in the sea monster’s hide, just when Macawber begs Angus to stop.

Macawber brought some chemicals with him, and instead of killing the beast, he wants to capture it alive and make it the biggest tourist attraction of them all. Angus thinks Jaimie’s greed will doom them all and pleads the Hulk to intercede. As the Hulk approaches Macawber, the explosives detonate, causing an unexpected chain reaction with the chemicals, triggering the Hulk’s transformation into Banner. His gamma rays add to the rare mix, causing the sea monster and Macawber to turn into stone.

From shore, Angus and Banner watch as the tourist attraction Macawber wished for became a reality, but tragically, he was also a part of it.
