Synopsis

Infinity Gauntlet #2 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3 stars
After half the population of the universe was winked out of existence, the Avengers and other heroes are trying to deal with the panic and disaster that come in the wake. Doctor Strange is mentally contacted by Adam Warlock and told to assemble a team of champions to be led by Warlock to deal with Thanos. Doctor Doom has joined with Strange and the Silver Surfer, demanding to know what is happening. Warlock arrives and announces his presence. Meanwhile, Thanos, still basking in the divine powers granted by the Infinity Gauntlet, captures his brother Eros and, removing his mouth, forces him to watch the display of sheer might. Still trying to win the love of Mistress Death, Thanos sends a wave of psychic destruction across the universe. When it reaches Earth, it causes a series of earthquakes and tsunamis, creating massive upheavals and straining the powers of the already exhausted heroes.

Review / Commentaries

Infinity Gauntlet #2 Review by (February 15, 2010)
The Human Torch is listed among the confirmed missing yet he is seen later in the story. Jim Hammond the Golden Age Torch, perhaps?

More comments and tie-ins from Rob Johnson:-

Peter skipped over a few bits:-
The Kree blame the Skrulls for their disappearances. The Skrulls did the same in reverse last issue. And they're off to war.
Odin hosts a meeting of Sky-Gods in Asgard, but Thanos' psychic wave breaks the Rainbow Bridge trapping them there.
Thanos tries to amuse Death by torturing Eros and Nebula.
Galactus plans a cosmic alliance against him.

This issue overlaps with half of Quasar #27 (which means that Quasar's 2 small apps here have to be delayed to #3).
And it is followed by Doctor Strange Sorcerer Supreme #32 and Silver Surfer #52, plus another part of Sleepwalker #7.

In this part of Q#27 Thanos' interference at Eon's funeral in his pocket universe in Q#26 has effects:- Eon's body starts to invade Manhattan and Quasar has to fight duplicates of 4 previous bearers of the Quantum Bands formed from more bits of the body. Meanwhile Moondragon finds Jack Of Hearts floating in space, and Her confronts recently-resurrected Adam Warlock. They were born in the same way and she believes they are destined to be perfect mates. Then Quasar destroys 3 of the constructs.

In DSSS#32 Pip and Strange's alien disciple Rintrah come across Silver Dagger stirring up a hate-mob against DrS. Things go badly until Strange abandons his argument with Dr Doom, Silver Surfer and Warlock over who should lead the opposition to Thanos in order to take a hand. But it takes Agamotto himself to sort things out. And Stephen makes up with Clea.

SS#52 concentrates on the doings of Drax and Firelord on Titan after Mentor vanishes (IG#1) and Eros is taken by Thanos (this issue). But the end of the tale is within IG#3 as they are summoned by Strange to join his army.

Meanwhile in SLEEP#7 a prison has been disrupted by last issue's vanishings and earthquakes and 4 prisoners escape chained together. Another earthquake in a science lab gives them an Origin, as Damage Control would say, but their new powers only work as long as they're linked by the chain. Meanwhile in Brooklyn Sleepwalker helps people endangered by the earthquakes.
