Invincible Iron Man #101 Review by (August 18, 2014)
Review: Bill Mantlo wrote THE FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER #18 (the final issue) and here continues the story to try to clear up some plot threads left dangling by that book’s cancellation. I kinda liked that series, too bad it didn’t last—but then they didn’t have anywhere for it to go so…here we are. This story is very nice with some terrific art for the big fight and the air battle. Mantlo could always be trusted to deliver the goods.

Comments: Part one of a two-part story. First brief appearance of Dreadknight.

Invincible Iron Man #101 Synopsis by T Vernon
Departing from the Mandarin’s castle, Iron Man heads to a Chinese airbase and hijacks a plane to take him home. Back at the Stark plant, Krissy Longfellow delivers a package to bad guy Harry Key but Jasper Sitwell (who thinks they may be stealing Stark patents) spots them leaving and follows….
Flying over Yugoslavia, Iron Man’s plane is shot down and Shellhead crashes into a forest, unconscious. He is found by a band of dwarves and the Frankenstein Monster who carries the wounded hero back to a castle. On the way, Iron Man awakens and there is a fight as the Monster doesn’t want him contacting “The Other.” During the brutal battle, the hero learns that The Other has abducted the dwarves’ mistress. Suddenly, Iron Man is bombarded with ionic force which renders him unconscious. Enter The Other: a skull-helmeted warrior riding a black dragon—the Dreadknight….
