Synopsis

Iron Man: Rapture #4 synopsis by T Vernon
Rating: 3.5 stars
As War Machine and the AI Tony Stark 2.0 battle their way through the building, Pepper Potts, now trapped in the virtual realm called StarkWorld, has met Mike, a programmer, who shows her the place, built out of the AI’s hate for the human race. Mike is full of despair because everyone’s dead and who’s to say this isn’t what Tony Stark wanted all along? Pepper insists this isn’t what Tony intended and nothing is yet permanent. So while Rhodey is in the real world fighting the AI, they have to locate Tony while fighting their way past an army of virtual demons. But when they start out they find the “demons” frozen so Pepper realizes Rhodey must be hurting the AI. They find Tony, chained to a rock like Prometheus, his liver being eaten by a vulture. The bad bird kills Mike so Pepper grabs it by the leg and smashes it on the rocks. Tony explains how the monster wants to be free of the meat, killing all organic life. But it is still learning and needs Tony’s body; once it’s done with its rapture, it will leave and no one will be able to stop it. Tony claims Pepper can stop the AI so it sends her back into her body where she dodges the battling Rhodey and the AI; she cuts her hand and places her bloody palm on a screen and the program Tony wrote into her destroys StarkWorld, killing everyone within, including Tony. The AI also dies and Pepper tells Rhodey that it was Tony’s act of love….
