Synopsis

Iron Man #175 synopsis by T Vernon
Rating: 4.5 stars
Nick Fury in a SPLASH craft and Iron Man arrive together at the site where Tony Stark's armors plunged into the sea and there is a fight in the sky over the spot, exchanging blows with their various weapons. The battle continues under the sea as they discover a sunken wreck where the armors must have fallen. Meanwhile, Warlord Krang of Atlantis has been informed that “strange metallic clothing” has been dumped nearby and he seeks to claim it. While the two surface heroes fight, Krang and his men make their presence known by blasting Shellhead with a deadly ray and taking the armors. Iron Man, still alive, finds he is running out of oxygen and must surface while he calls Morley Erwin to find out how to recharge it; Morley, visited by his sister Clytemnestra, tells him that it automatically renews itself. Iron Man then returns to the sea bottom to battle a party of blue-skinned warriors left behind by Krang as an ambush. Shellhead defeats them and is attacked by Krang and the men who have donned the suits. The villains overpower Iron Man and prepare to remove his helmet when Morley activates the remote control and the baddies find themselves rising out of the ocean and into the sky. Their only recourse is to remove the armor and drop back into their element. Shellhead collects it all and dumps it underwater where he destroys it with a laser beam. Iron Man and Fury return to the surface, having made peace with each other.

Review / Commentaries

Iron Man #175 Review by (February 24, 2016)
Comments: Part two of two parts. Nick Fury begins to suspect that this Iron Man is not the usual one.

Review: A Will Eisner inspired cover leads to another beautifully-drawn issue that begins with the two heroes at odds with one another but leads to some fantastic artwork showing the various battles under and above the ocean. A neat touch has both Krang and Shellhead finding a treasure chest full of gold and jewels and pronouncing it worthless—then Rhodey sees the absurdity of his reaction. Clytemnestra Erwin appears briefly to bicker with her brother; hope she gets to do something real soon.
