Story Name:

Part Two of Five

Synopsis

Jane Foster and the Mighty Thor #2 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Thor Odinson, trapped in an unknown land, accompanied only by Ratatoskr, recalls how he came to be there: he was hunting in a forest when he was confronted by a centaur that was half-deer and half-woman. She shot several arrows into him and a portal opened up to engulf him but before it closed, he threw Mjolnir to Jane….

And now Valkyrie Jane Foster, bearing Mjolnir which contains the spirit of Odin, arrives at that location and finds an arrowhead….

Kurse leads the attack on Asgard, defying Sif, until Runa arrives astride Mister Horse and she destroys Kurse’s ship and heads to the Rainbow Bridge to call Hildegarde to join her and they ride off together….

Jane goes to Bourbon Street, and after some trouble getting past the magical security system, she is ushered into the presence of Doctor Voodoo. The wizard identifies the arrowhead as Promethium which only exists in Limbo a/k/a Otherworld in the Splinter Realms. Jane summons the magical ship Skidbladnir and departs for Limbo….

Amora the Enchantress enters Asgard secretly and takes on the appearance of a dead guard. At the Bridge, Beta Ray Bill is notified that the trolls, led by Ulik, are entering the city. The central tower, undermined by the trolls, collapses and the trolls attack in force….

In her disguise, Amora enters the Vault and steals the keys to Hel, an action which is immediately known to Sif….

Jane arrives at a mansion floating on a rock in space. Entering, she discovers she is in a library and the Librarian keeps asking her puzzling questions. Then the powerful demon S’ym arrives to take on the interloper….

Review / Commentaries

Jane Foster and the Mighty Thor #2 Review by (July 6, 2022)

Review: Entertaining tale is a complicated and overpopulated as any issue from the DeFalco-Frenz era and just as much fun. Surprise appearance by Doctor Voodoo, not usually found in a Thor comic, is a nice touch and the arrival of S’ym, also a stranger to these pages, promises some excitement next time around.

Comments: Ratatoskr, the squirrel messenger among the Ten Realms, first appeared in THOR (1998 series) #83 but has mostly been seen in UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL. S’ym, the leading demon of Limbo, was introduced in UNCANNY X-MEN #160 but has spent most of his comic book career in NEW MUTANTS, starting at issue #14 and eventually moving on to other X-Men titles. Issue includes a tribute to the late Neal Adams, comic book giant.
