For the Avengers’ oral history, Mockingbird relates how she was nearly killed and revived with a variation on the Super-Soldier formula and the Infinity Formula as she reviews her recent history….

Earlier, the New Avengers (Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Wolverine, Iron Fist, Thing, Ms. Marvel) were sitting at the dinner table in Avengers Mansion when Spider-Man suddenly announces he is leaving the team. He gives as one reason his recent work with the Future Foundation but Victoria Hand guesses at the chief reason: as Norman Osborn’s recent right hand, Spidey doesn’t trust her as the Avengers’ liaison. An argument breaks out that halts when Bobbi (Mockingbird) Morse walks in, apparently fully recovered from her recent injuries….

And then Sin leads her army of Nazi war machines against New York and the Avengers take them on. With her new powers, Bobbi leaps to the top of one of the battle machines, pulls the operator out and seats herself at the controls and uses it to attack other enemies. Soon a trio of Nazi machines team up and shoot down Bobbi’s battle suit. With a laugh she leaps to safety on a rooftop and then watches as, in the distance, Avengers Tower collapses….

Bobbi relates how at that point she knew she was given a second chance so that she could kill the Red Skull….

New Avengers (2010 series) #14 Review by (August 31, 2021)

Review: The usual talky Bendis stuff, with the central character explaining everything directly to the readers, interspersed among the narration. The best part is the focus on Mockingbird who has neat new powers for some very satisfying action. Things get better next issue.

Comments: FEAR ITSELF tie-in: first part of story takes place before the event happens; the second part comes during Sin’s siege of Manhattan in FEAR ITSELF #4 and simultaneously with AVENGERS (2010) #14. Mockingbird was injured and treated in issue #13 of this title.
