Part One: Hunters

Synopsis

Red Skull (2015 series) #1 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3.5 stars

Electro is in a bar in Battleworld's Killville, regaling his cronies with tales of his exploits when a huge figure enters, slaughters the pals and carries off Electro. The baddie is deposited on an airship where he sees that others are prisoners too: Magneto, Moonstone, Jack O'Lantern, Lady Deathstrike, and the Winter Soldier. Their captor reveals himself to be Crossbones, on a mission from Doom himself. The Red Skull had raised a rebellion against Doom and was exiled across the Shield into the wilderness occupied by zombies. But rumors report that the Skull is alive and he is the rallying point for other rebels. Crossbones has been tasked with creating a team of losers to go into the wilderness and return with some proof that the Red Skull is dead and they gain their freedom. They have each been fitted with collars that dampen their super-powers to keep them in line (all but the Winter Soldier, who volunteered for the mission).

Crossbones takes them through a gate in the Shield, killing the dinosaur that served as a guard, and sends them on their mission. Within minutes they are surrounded and attacked by the zombies who kill all of them but Magneto. Magneto, it turns out, is rescued...by the Red Skull....

Review / Commentaries

Red Skull (2015 series) #1 Review by (October 9, 2016)
Comments: SECRET WARS (3) tie-in: BATTLEWORLD banner on cover.

Review: Yeah, SECRET WARS 3 acted like a gigantic “What If?” for the Marvel Universe, playing around with beloved characters and classic storylines, ending up as a bunch of pointless—but occasionally fun—stories. Here we have a cool adventure featuring two of Marvel's best villains, Magneto and the Red Skull, and while none of this will ever be remembered or incorporated into the company's history or continuity, it is fairly entertaining. That's good enough on some days.
