The problem is, there are many impostors out there to confuse the issue, the villainess' Pit-Vipers. The story starts with Silver and half of the Wild Pack in Rome battling one Viper who turns out to be a fake, and the other half of the team fighting another false Viper in Kentucky. Elsewhere, Silver is abandoned by her lover, Jacques, who has a secret mission of his own....

Else-elsewhere, Baron Strucker vows revenge against Silver Sable for his defeat in issue #12, as well as her teammate Crippler....

Later, Crippler is undercover as a mobster in the Bronx to investigate another Viper sighting. This time Captain America bursts in and Cap and Crippler battle over who gets to capture this fake Viper. Cap wins and escorts his prisoner out...where she is gunned down by a sniper. Cap and Cripp take on the real Viper's goons and then Silver Sable and her Wild Pack arrive on the scene for a full-scale melee.
